Individualistic culture
The individualistic culture prioritises the needs of the individual over the needs of the group. It is cross-cultural psychology.
A very small number of countries are considered individualistic cultures such as the United States, Australia, Ireland, South Africa etc. This principle came from Dutch social scientist Geert Hofstede and his work on cultural dimensions.
Example of an individualistic culture
Case 1: USA
People of the USA usually see every person as a self-sufficient individual. This idea is important in understanding the US value system. Also, US people think that everyone is their very own representative of a family, community or any other group.
Collectivist culture
Collective culture is one that focuses on the group’s needs by working together, which is opposite to the individualist culture. A good example of this is family. It is because the family works together for their survival and happiness.

China is considered a collectivist society.
